December Lanterns

Captured in Bayonne, France | December 2023 | Huawei LYA- L29

A moment I look forward to every year. Despite the environmental impact, there is something undeniably magical about standing beneath hundreds of lanterns drifting into the night sky.

Bayonne provides the perfect backdrop: its old architecture, the river reflecting the lights, the music, and the shared anticipation of the crowd. For a few minutes, everything feels suspended between celebration and contemplation.

This image was captured during the final lâcher de lanternes in Bayonne in December 2023. A farewell to a tradition I loved, and a moment that carried a special emotional weight as I closed an important chapter of my life.
