The Moonrise(Antibois)
Antibes, Summer of 2025
The world feels still and silent when I stand watching the moon rise from the sea. Its magnetism pulls me in, and I can sense hidden dimensions of this world. It’s powerful.
In contrast, and in other places, I’ve grown used to watching the sun set over the water, a circle of light slowly sinking behind the sea, turning bright skies into dusk. But here, the full moonrises I’ve watched move in the opposite way: the sky is dim, and a circle of light emerges from hiding behind the sea, rising upward and casting a magical glow over the world.
This summer was one of the heaviest periods of my life. Spiritually, astrologically, and through my healing journey, it was a time of facing my inner demons. I couldn’t work properly, I couldn’t socialise, I couldn’t truly live. My days were reduced to working, sleeping, and barely eating.
The one thing that remained constant was my evening walks. Those full moonrises, so magical and serene, were what I looked forward to, the only moments that brought me peace.
I felt incredibly lucky to have witnessed this. I remember setting my calendar and alarms to make sure I didn’t miss a single moonrise while living in Antibes. The freeing feeling will stay with me forever.
Here, a photo-series of the moon rising in Antibes.

Last super moonrise over Antibes, watched from the edge of the sea before leaving this place behind. A moment that felt almost unreal, a mirrored rhythm of the day. Where I come from, the sea usually holds the….

The cactus plants are quite the confirmation. I’ve finally arrived in the South of France. Endless hot summer nights on the Mediterranean Sea. After so many years in cold weather, my heart is finally warm.

In Arabic, a crescent moon is called a helal. Growing up, my parents were always searching for helals in the sky. I never understood the fascination. For years, I blamed the moon for my emotional tides rather than appreciating its beauty.
This morning in Antibes, just before heading to work, a thin crescent rose outside my window. Its magical presence offered so much comfort and peace. It was exactly what I needed to help me face what I had to endure during this particularly heavy summer.
